Cup Head Pin Welding System

Axiflow, a leading HVAC fabricator in Sydney, wanted a faster and safer way to fix insulation to sheet-metal ductwork. Antec supplied its Cup Head Pin welding system, replacing the traditional pin-and-clip process and delivering a major boost in productivity.

The Challenge

The ageing four-step “pin and clip” method left sharp pins exposed, slowed production and created manual-handling risks for installers and transport crews. Labour costs and onsite safety incidents were both rising.

What We Did

HBS CDi1502 inverter power source and CI03 Cup Pin gun cut the operation to a single trigger pull, trimming energy use by 30 percent and eliminating exposed pins.

Cup-head pins supplied in insulated, galvanised and stainless options cover every insulation thickness from 25 mm to 100 mm.

Field trials at Axiflow showed more than 50 percent labour savings and a matching lift in efficiency, with installers reporting easier handling and cleaner finishes.

The same system is now used on major hospital, commercial and infrastructure builds across New South Wales, giving contractors a proven way to improve speed and safety.
